Orange
Crush Flyover
was set up and used to
help us present
A TRULY GREAT STATE CHAMPIONSHIP RACE!
The
weather cooperated with us and we used the ORANGE CRUSH
FLYOVER in a very challenging 1.8 mile race course designed
by Flying Rhino Joe Brown.
The Flying
Rhinos and Kinetic Systems Bicycles
fixed us up with loads of Delicious food for this
final race of the 2009 Tailwind Michigan Cyclo-Cross Race
Series. We had a real Party/Festival in the
Large
Warm Building
we
used for registration, eating, warming up, and awards presentations.
We even included some BELL'S CHRISTMAS ALE
for this celebration!

and Steve Balogh were on display throughout the day
in the registration arena!
All Series Awards, State Championship Medals, MYC
Scholarship Certificates, and Daily Race Medals were presented in the
comfortable setting we had for the Awards Ceremony.

yes, We also had really good Cake at the party in honor
of
Robert's XXth Birthday!

It was a Great
Weekend of RACING and FUN that took place on
Saturday & Sunday: October 31 & November 1.
Saturday's Costume Race was the hit of the day with more
than 50 racers dressing up in hopes of winning the SyCip
Cross Dresser Frameset! When all was said and done,
Margie Ladzick was the Happy Frameset
winner.

MUNSON
PARK, MONROE, MICHIGAN -- OCTOBER 3, 2009
A GREAT NIGHT OF RACING AT A
GREAT PLACE IN GREAT WEATHER!
We could not have chosen a better night for the FIRST
EVER
TAILWIND
NIGHT
CX RACE! The
rain all stayed to our North, and we even got to enjoy the
FULL MOON in perfect conditions for our racing. The
top of the Sledding Hill was the preferred Viewing Spot as
the Entire Course could be seen from there, and the Hot Dogs
and Tina
Goocher's Home
Made Chile & Cookies
were just a few short steps away down by the Start
Line. If you missed this race, you really want to be
sure to make it next year... You will be glad you did!
Joe Brown worked his wizardry again and designed a sweet
course that flowed really well for this first night CX
event. NIGHT RACING IS COOL...
CONGRATULATIONS to MIKE WISSINK (SPECIALIZED)
and
ANNE SCHWARTZ (FLYING RHINO CYCLING
CLUB) who continued
their winning ways conquering the Elite Men's and Women's
fields -
they both are UNDEFEATED in the three Tailwind CX Series
races this year!

May 24,
2009 -- Bloomer Park -- Rochester Hills, MI
This event was sponsored by the good folks at
ROCHESTER BIKE SHOP
  
This race was
re-scheduled from May 17, and this time the weather was
absolutely perfect for racing! Trails were in GREAT
condition with a wonderful little bridge put in by John
Grayson turning the muddy crossing through what was always a
short nightmare by the river into a sweet dream, and with
the trail repair that
Art Fleming accomplished on the Lower
Ridge trail section which turned a
muddy/rooted fiendish
climb into a comfortable ride.

MICHIGAN STATE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES
The
PONTIAC
LAKE MTB TIME TRIAL, the Tailwind MTB Season Opener
on APRIL 26 came off without a hitch!!!
Mother nature tried her best to throw
a wrench into it, but the Tailwind crew emerged victorious
and was able get a pathway cleared through the 15 or so
trees
and all the limbs that blew down in the 70+ mph winds and hail
late on Saturday.
Sunday's racing was Sunny and Bright,
and saw Mike Anderson (Bells Beer/Quiring Cycles) and
Karey
Collins (MPI/Main Street Racing) win the Elite Classes
in the season opening 2009 USAC State Championship MTB
Series.
